ASTM A213 TP304L Tube is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel seamless tube designed for high-temperature service in boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers. It is the low-carbon version of TP304 stainless steel and provides improved weldability along with enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion.

Manufactured under ASTM A213 / ASME SA213 specifications, TP304L tubes are widely used in industries requiring reliable corrosion resistance, good mechanical strength, and excellent fabrication characteristics. Although commonly referred to as a “pipe” in trade terminology, ASTM A213 technically covers seamless stainless steel tubes.

Difference Between TP304 and TP304L

TP304 Carbon Content: Maximum 0.08%
TP304L Carbon Content: Maximum 0.035%

The reduced carbon level in TP304L minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, thereby preventing sensitization and improving resistance to intergranular corrosion, especially in welded structures.

Nickel (Ni): 8.0 – 12.0%
Iron (Fe): Balance

Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition – Minimum)

Tensile Strength: ≥ 485 MPa
Yield Strength (0.2% Proof): ≥ 170 MPa
Elongation: ≥ 35%
