ASTM A269 TP316 Tube (Pipe) is a seamless or welded austenitic stainless steel tubing intended for general corrosion-resisting and low- to high-temperature service applications. Grade TP316 contains 2.0–3.0% molybdenum, which enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly in chloride-containing environments.

Manufactured in accordance with ASTM A269 specifications, TP316 tubing is supplied in the annealed condition and is widely used in instrumentation, hydraulic lines, and general process applications. The addition of molybdenum improves performance in marine, chemical, and industrial environments where exposure to aggressive media is common. Although often referred to as “pipe” in trade terminology, ASTM A269 technically covers stainless steel tubing.
