The ASTM A269 TP316 pipe is made from plain or welded austenitic stainless steel, and it has been invented to enhance its chemical corrosion, especially from chlorides and industrial solvents. Such an impressive feature of the composition is basically because of the molybdenum, which is between 2 and 3%. The pipe has an overall toughness of at least 515 MPa and yield stress of 205 MPa, a density of about 8g/cm3 and an approximate melting point of 1400 °C.
