ASTM A249 TP316 Tube (Pipe) Supplier and Exporter in India

ASTM A249 TP316 Tube (Pipe) is a welded austenitic stainless steel tube manufactured for boilers, superheaters, heat exchangers, and condensers. Grade TP316 contains molybdenum (2.0–3.0%), which significantly enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments compared to TP304.

Produced in accordance with ASTM A249 specifications, TP316 tubes are supplied in the welded and heat-treated condition to meet required mechanical and metallurgical properties. The addition of molybdenum improves corrosion resistance in marine, chemical, and process industries where exposure to aggressive media is common. Although commonly referred to as “pipe” in commercial terminology, ASTM A249 technically covers welded stainless steel tubes.

Difference Between TP316 and TP304

  • TP304: No molybdenum content
  • TP316: Contains 2.0–3.0% molybdenum for improved chloride resistance

The presence of molybdenum in TP316 provides superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in marine and chemical processing environments where chlorides are present.

Key Features of ASTM A249 TP316
