The ASTM A213 TP304L pipe is a low-carbon version of the TP304 grade. The intention of this low-carbon version is to give better weldability and, to some extent, resistance to intergranular corrosion. Its unique properties make it an excellent choice for applications requiring extensive welding or exposure to harsh, corrosive environments.
● Corrosion Resistance: The grade also contains molybdenum 2.00-3.00%, which improves the resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride containing environments.
● Mechanical Strength: The pipes and tubes are designed to carry a tensile strength of no less than 485 MPa and a yield strength of about 170 MPa.
● Versatility: These pipes and tubes come in multiple diameters and wall thicknesses, so meeting a variety of project requirements is possible.
As a result of its superior mechanical characteristics and excellent corrosion resistance, the TP316L ASTM A312 pipes are frequently applied in the following areas:
● Chemical Processing: Used as a pipeline for hazardous solvents and chemicals.
● Oil and Gas: It can carry sour gas and is used for offshore drilling.
● Pharmaceuticals: It can also be used to produce pharmaceutical machines that need to be corrosion resistant and of high purity.
● Improved Capacity for Welding: A low carbon content helps to make certain that carbide precipitation does not take place during welding. Thus, post-weld annealing is rarely needed.
● Resistance to High Temperature: Retains the shape and ability to withstand corrosion even at high temperatures.
